I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

While waiting for our emergency plumber, clear away any significant items, mop up any water, and put a container to catch drips. You should also switch off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.
