I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

While you wait for our plumber to arrive, begin mopping up any water, put a container to catch any drips, and clear away significant things from the area. If the mains water is turned off, also switch off the heating for the hot water.

You may have been shown it as a stopcock, isolating valve or toby. This valve is normally located on the boundary near the road, usually under a blue or black plastic cover.
