I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If water is leaking, turn the water off at the nearest valve and then at the mains tap outside. If you cannot locate the main valve or a tap to the appliance, then turn on all the cold taps inside and out to help depressurise the pipework and minimise the leak.

Now give our on call plumbers a ring, any hour day or night. We’ll be there as soon as possible to resolve the problem.

While waiting for our emergency plumber, remove any important things, clean up any water, and place a container to catch drips. You should also switch off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.
