I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

While you wait, begin wiping up any water, place a container to catch any drips, and clear away important things from the area. If the property water is turned off, then also switch off the heating for the hot water.

Help, I don’t know where the main water shutoff valve is!

You may have been shown it as a stopcock, isolating valve or toby. This valve is normally located on the boundary near the road, usually under a blue or black plastic cover.
